Finance Associate (Generalist) - 2 to 4 PQE

We are seeking a talented and ambitious finance associate to join our growing Finance team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic and highly regarded team that sits at the heart of the firm’s global efforts driving Finance and broader Capital Solutions, and within the broader Corporate team. |
You will work on a broad and intellectually stimulating range of financing matters across the capital spectrum, including:
- Direct lending and special situations transactions
- Fund finance
- Esoteric and structured financings
- International and domestic syndicated loans
- Debt and capital markets work
- Finance aspects of distressed investments and restructurings
Our clients include credit funds, hedge funds, other financial investors, special situation funds, portfolio companies, private equity houses and other sophisticated borrowers.
At this level, you will be expected to work closely with multiple partners across a range of complementary workstreams. We offer an environment where associates are given significant responsibility and early exposure to clients, with the support of a collaborative, high-performing team.
What We’re Looking For
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience at a leading US firm, Magic Circle, or Silver Circle firm. You should have prior exposure to one or more of the relevant workstreams and be enthusiastic about developing a well-rounded finance practice. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong technical capabilities across a broad finance skill set
- An interest in working across a range of transaction types and with multiple partners
- Keenness to be involved in special situations and restructuring/distressed financings
- Commercial judgment and the ability to understand the needs of complex investor clients
- A proactive, collaborative approach to deal execution and structuring
- A commitment to delivering high-quality advice in a fast-moving, client-focused environment
About the Team
Akin’s London Finance team, led by partner Amy Kennedy, comprises five partners, one senior counsel, seven associates, and a trainee. We are recognised for advising on some of the market’s most innovative and complex transactions. Our multidisciplinary team is at the forefront of:
