The role

A new role within the London Financial Restructuring and special situations groups with a dedicated focus on (a) credit analysis, and (b) legal support for business development initiatives.  To date, these areas have been covered by fee earners, but we are looking for more consistent and efficient coverage going forward so that the work product and flow is not affected by busyness levels on billable matters.

A number of our competitors in the London finance and restructuring markets have one or more lawyers providing support to their fee earners, and it is important that our team remains competitive with our peers in this regard.  We are particularly keen to ensure that we have dedicated resourcing available to help us to analyze debt documents promptly and efficiently and prepare written materials and review presentations for distribution to clients (which have become increasingly prevalent in the London market).

The role would work in tandem with the role Stephen Peppiatt (Corporate, Senior Counsel) currently performs on a part-time basis, and provide broader coverage (including coverage during periods of busyness and vacation) as well as bridging to business development and opportunity tracking to support the existing team.

The role would be suitable for a qualified lawyer or financial analyst with banking, finance, high yield or similar experience within a law firm, investment bank or through work at a reputable service provider such as Reorg/Octus, Debtwire, 9fin, CreditSights or similar.  It is anticipated that the role would be primarily non-fee earning, although there would be scope for a suitably qualified individual to bill time spent in providing technical support on matters.

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld's employment practices actively promote equal opportunities throughout the Firm and its employees are selected and recruited  by merit in relation to the job to be performed, without regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, religion or belief.
